One of the major ways in which Chinese medicine determines how one’s health is relies on the laws of the universe. This essentially means that any trained person in Chinese medicine will turn towards nature and the characteristics that are in this environment to determine why one may be unhealthy. One of the ways that these determinations are made is through the five elements.

The five elements consist of water, wood, fire, earth and metal. When looking at these elements, there are certain attributes that are analyzed. In turn, the analysis that is made will also determine how it is related to various organs. Not only did these five elements determine the relation of the elements to organs, but went on to include things such as how emotions corresponded with these various elements.

The idea of the five elements is to see how everything is interconnected to each other through the universe. Chinese medicine determines that every man is a reflection of what is in the universe, meaning that each individual can be analyzed in direct co-relation to the elements of the universe.

Take for instance if someone is having trouble with their heart or small intestine. According to Chinese Herbal medicine, this would directly relate to Fire, meaning that it would be linked with the qualities of summer and the energy of heat. The result of the heart or intestine trouble would be that the sense organ of the tongue would first be affected. The emotion associated with this would be either joy or shock. The heart and the small intestine will also trigger bitter taste that someone will respond to.

The idea is that everything in the external universe is directly aligned with the internal. In order to be completely healthy, or to get holistic health, the five elements principles have to be applied. By doing this, one is able to find the natural solutions for any season or element that they are looking at.

Not only can you ask local practitioners about Chinese medicine practices, you can also find other resources that can help. Because alternative medicine is becoming more popular, you can easily find national associations and organizations that are dedicated to promoting alternative methods of Chinese medicine. By linking to these organizations as an alternative, you will be able to expand your possibilities and knowledge of holistic health.

Finding a way to link the mind, body and spirit also means finding examples of those who have been initiating alternative health. There are a variety of possibilities that are available, all which can link you to understanding and practicing your flow of energy.

You have to say goodbye to the following food and beverages: tea, coffee, radishes, garlic, onion, spices (pepper), oils, alcohol, sugar, soft drinks, diet soft drinks, asparagus (Brussels sprouts), high protein foods, pasta noodles, corn starch, eggs, plums, prunes, cranberries, and all processed foods including junk foods. Now, you may want to cry. All your comfort foods are gone.

If you think, you cannot abruptly eliminate them in your diet; start with taking just small amounts. Then start substituting them with the following: fruits, citric fruits in small amounts though due to their acidic content, all kinds of vegetables and almonds.
If you feel that you are not feeling the acid indigestion symptoms anymore, you may go back to your previous diet in moderation though to prevent recurrence of the acid reflux.

Aside from proper diet, there are practical home remedies to avoid the acid reflux symptom. They are:
· Avoid smoking before or during meals.
· Eat in an upright sitting position.
· Do not lie on the bed immediately after eating.
· Take small walks after eating. It stimulates the digestive system.
· Avoid exercise after a large meal.

· Do not drink alcohol while eating.
· Chew food slowly and thoroughly.

One of the home remedies for treating acid reflux is the ginger alternative. Ingesting ginger with a meal helps to reduce an upset stomach. The ginger is grounded and added to foods and taken in tea or capsule form. Most herbalists recommend consuming 500mg. of ginger with a full glass of water after meals.

We are often told by our physicians to drink more water, if possible at least 8 glasses each day. The water helps eliminate body toxins and allow the body to expel acid naturally.

Green tea has been used for centuries in Japan and other oriental countries as an after dinner drink. Green teas assist the body in the digestion process, and help soothe the stomach’s sensitive tissue.

Herbal teas containing peppermint, chamomile, ginger, licorice root and catnip even in just small traces help the stomach lining repair itself. Often, one cup of tea following dinner is enough to reduce future acid reflux symptoms.

So, kiss acid reflux symptom goodbye!

How do you know if you have all you need even though you hear a lot about vitamins and minerals? You probably are, for the most part. There are times when we don’t however, and this lead to a very interesting theory. My mom offered me a book she read a long time ago, and it stated that those who do not get enough vitamins and minerals each day might get sick easier and also might walk around with strange cravings.

After I read the book, it made me think about a teacher I had in seventh grade. This guy was your classic teacher, though he was not very animated. Many times he would eat the chalk he had in the class room. I never considered there had to be a reason why he did it even though we thought it was funny at the time. May be it had something to do with the quantity of vitamins and minerals in his diet? I am not sure, but this book told me it was. It’s a fascinating theory. But would it makes us eat chalk if our body craves for vitamins and minerals it is not getting?

So this might be the explanation why you demand certain foods. That’s definitely not as shocking as eat chalk, but this could explain odd cravings, especially during pregnancy. Expecting women need more vitamins and minerals than anyone else, and they must to be sure they get them. If they are not getting the vitamins and minerals for themselves as well as what they need for their growing baby, does this drive them to ask for Italian dressing and hotdogs in the middle of the night? I don’t know.

There are many things we can do to live a natural life although we sometimes don’t think of them. It isn’t so difficult to find them and to put them into practice shouldn’t be a struggle.

natural living tips
I truly believe in keeping things simple so the first tip I would suggest is to look at having a natural life from the point of view of the benefits you and your family will receive.

An obvious place to start is in the health and well being department. Do you know that eating fresh fruit, vegetables and food containing fiber will greatly reduce the risks of illness? This way you are making sure your body is receiving the nutrients it needs. This food provides antioxidants and vitamins and are an important part of a balanced diet.

By the way “balance” is an important part of natural health. Just as you can’t feed yourself properly on fruit alone, you shouldn’t try it exclusively on meet. Did you know that a glass of red wine is a source of antioxidants. A whole bottle will have different effects, but then it wouldn’t be a balanced exercise, would it?

Stress and worry, anger or sadness, will affect your body’s response to illness (you are less resistant). Now this natural health tip is not the “don’t work so hard” type of advice. What I would suggest is give yourself fifteen minutes a day of doing nothing. Sit comfortably, play some soft music, classical if you can, and just enjoy the moment. If you can get into the habit of this you will find out two things. It gets easier every time (your worries won’t be jumping at you all the time), and secondly you will look forward to this everyday. in other circles this is known as meditation.

How about walking a little more. Again the balanced outlook is not to run the marathon, but during your everyday activities take every opportunity for walking. Use the stairs, take the longer route from the toilet to your desk.

It is the small things in life that make a difference.

Remember, keep it simple and in balance. Who knows, you might enjoy it more than you think.
